agree~

in process generally means u made one step ahead! the next thing is usually ppr,, but how long will it take from ip to ppr, no one knows, it can be 2 weeks, or 3-5 months

think positive! u r now one step closer to ppr!

Hope so..

Hello everyone,
Has anyone sent in the request for information about the immigration file? I had a few questions regarding the questions within the various sections on the form.

Section A
1. In Section A, the first thing to be written is 'Requester's reference number.' What exactly is this?

2. Which Act should I select (Privacy vs access to information act)?

3. Which form (out of those specified in the last question of seciton A) would be the best/most-recommended to obtain the information in? (CD vs hard copy vs email vs copy-of-info-in-a-gov-file?

Section B
1. What is the difference between CAIPS and GCMS? Also, do I have to select both or just one of them?

2. I remember getting two file number in the medical request (application file number starting with E, and paper file number starting with B.) Which one should I mention in the 'visa file number' section?

3. Is it better to request for 'the visa file' instead of CAIPS/GCMS? Requesting the visa file is mentioned to take longer, so is there any advantage/benefit to requesting it instead of CAIPS/GCMS?

Section C.
1. Has anyone paid via  personal cheque? It does not explicitly forbade the use of personal cheques and the amount is small to warrant an offical bank draft.

Please let me know. Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Hello again

I had a general question, which I'm sure people might have had brought up earlier.

Is it true that after getting the PR (for QC selected workers), one has to work in quebec for a certain number of years, before you can move elsewhere in Canada. Does CIC require QSW to remaini in Quebec only for a certain number of years in start? Would they cancel the PR if they found that you are no longer in QC?

Please comment/discuss.

Regards,

P.S: I do not know if this is true or not, but apparently  I have a heard a rumor going around that QSW category people are issued PR cards, that says exclusive to just QC only. Is this really true or just imagination?

I just noticed we have exactly the same application day.
Did you finish your ME? I finished my ME in November and still waiting.
Contacted CIC several times by email, but all the same reply.

Hi, I did apply GCMS 4 days ago. It may take one month or at least 4 weeks.
It's easy to apply and also free if you stay in Canada now.

Actually someone who applied on the same day as mine contacted his MP and found out his file is being transferred soon ... So, getting files transferred is not totally out of question I guess. I think it takes 3 more months if your file get transferred and if they do it fits the 15 months processing time for us!

Hey Hanisuliman,
Yeah you are right.. Wink

However, I just want to know whether one is free to seek employment elsewhere in canada without consequences (e.g. when you apply for citizenship three years down the lane,  could the processing officer, make your-not-staying-in-QC an issue?)
