rehan1981,

Didn't you had to submit the PCC and Medical at the time of submitting the application?  Why are they requesting it again?

Indocan, I don't know about his (rehan1981) situation but I submitted my app without the medicals and police checks also. It can be done, it may just take a bit longer.

Chickie72,
Thanks!  I thought it was mandatory for everyone (spouse sponsorship) to get the medical done and PCC issued before filing the application... Anyways, I did get my wife to do her medical and the PCC, attached it at the time of filing the application...  I do know both the medical and PCC have their own validity period .  I am hoping that for any application that gets approved before that expiry period does not need to refile those two documents.

Don't sent it until you have a UCI number or they request it. Because they will just return it as they won't know where your application is. The officer dealing with your file may not ask for it.

Good advise. Thanks!

Last night I was able to log into my E-CAS.

It says application received on Feb 13. (this is in contrast to my mail tracking records which shows that the package delivered on Feb 10).

No e-mail or letter was received. No decision regarding the sponsorship has been taken yet.

People usually get their acknowledgement of receipt along their sponsorship approval through the e-mail.

dont worry ...it will come soon same happened vd me...jst one or two days more u vl b able to see decision made. I could jst check online dat the decision hasbeen made  and recievd the approval letter today not through e-mail...u vl soon hear gud news ...ol d bst !!!

What form number is ThunderSoul talking about? Does anyone know?

IMM5406

And they will receive it monday or tuesday because the packaged was delivered today at 11am but I wasn't home, so I'll get it tomorrow, and they'll only be able to start sending it friday... and last time I asked them to deliver a package express (1 day) it ended up taking 4 days, taht's why they received it as late as Feb 8

By the way, my wife tried to get into Canada before, will this impact her application?
We invited her (our family and my bro's wife's family) to my bro and his now-wife's wedding, but she was denied. We were just bf/gf at the time.
What impact do you think this will have on her application?

We were advised to withdraw an application for a visitors visa because a denial was a red flag. He did say it wasn't a huge deal. And others got their visas no problem with a denial. 95% are denied.

I am one of those people who did not add the word "none";

Question to Thundersoul;  Did they specifically say ;  missed a signature or incomplete form (outlined what was missing) .

How many more days before I hear anything triple sigh;  is it true that cic waits for 50 application per VO before processing.

Yes I am sure. Those numbers are published on the CIC website and they are accurate. I have not seen a Havana thread but do a search on the top right of your screen and see if you come up with any Cuban threads. Or start a brand new topic about Cuba.

This process is very hard. But I suspect you'll be done in 6-8 months. It is too bad the first step is taking 3 months vs 1 month right now because that really makes it feel LOOONG.

Thank you SO much! I really appreciate the advice and positive attitude during this time Smiley

Really? Are you sure? Not to question your experience or knowledge.. I am just sitting here freaking out, waiting every single second of everyday, hoping that he will be able to come here soon. This is the most difficult thing I have ever been through in my life and I miss him more than anything. Do you know of anyone that has recently sponsored someone from Cuba?

Gleyva, I am sponsoring my Cuban spouse as well, but am in the May 2012 applicant pool. So you have the head start. My spouse and I have a couple of friends whose files were processed by the Havana VO fairly quickly. One, moving to Ontario, was granted his visa within 3 months...pretty quick considering he had to resubmit some forms to correct errors on original submissions. The other, going to Quebec, took a bit longer. I believe 7 months. Add to these the time for sponsorship approval.

Not long ago, I spoke with my MP's office about processing times. His staff advised that they recently heard of a number of cases that were processed by the Havana VO in less than 4 months. I know it's a brutal wait, but keep your fingers crossed. The Havana VO seems relatively efficient compared to others around the world.

Hey! Thanks for the response. We should chat about our experiences. I mean, I do not know a single person who is going through what I am right now and would love to talk to someone about it. I got the letter from CIC already approving me as a sponsor, so you think it should be just a few more months until my husband gets the call from Havana?

I hope so. Every case is different and you never know with these things, but my spouse and I figure it is better to be optimistic than to fall into despair... and our friends' files were recently processed within a reasonable time frame.

Are you and your husband aware of the process for him to get his Cuban exit permit after he receives his Canadian visa? If not, it might be good for him to look into the requirements sooner rather than later. Sometimes it can take a fair amount of time for the exit permit to be granted. Also, it might be easier for him to obtain a permit to visit abroad (PVE) to leave Cuba and then later apply for the permit to reside abroad (PRE) via the Cuban Embassy or Cuban Consulate in Canada after he has landed.

I think we have the PRE pretty much understood. But if everything is good and ready to go, then it should only take a few weeks right? What types of things does he need to get it? I thought he just needed the Visa (once they approve him he goes to get it in Havana) and his plane ticket? Someone said he may need a letter from his former employer saying he no longer works there as well. Anything else? I am new to this website, so if you have time, it would be better for me to communicate with you via email. Is there a secure way I could send you my email address through here? Sorry to bother you, I just have a few questions and would love to keep in touch about your process, etc.
