Yeah it turns out my husband didn't sign where I told him to..... Lips sealed
but the crazy thing for me is that the letter said this..
a separate and newly completed Schedule 1 background declaration form (IMM0008 Schedule 1)...
a separate and newly completed Additional Family Information form (IMM5406)..
a newly completed Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire(IMM5490)..
but when I go to CIC it says that IMM0008 is the Generic Application Form and Schedule A Background/Declaration is form IMM5669 and the Spouse/Common-law Questionnaire is IMM5285...
so what ones do I do?  Oh and to top it off when I called the number that they listed on the letter it says that the number is no longer in service (888-242-2100)

What were the reasons for CIC to send the entire package back to you?  More to the point, what was wrong with those IMM forms??  Did they specify the problems?

This is not good at all...it means that they might send back packages quite late, as you should have already been approved according to the timelines...plus I read on this forum that they do an initial check to make sure everything is complete, so if you haven't received anything back from CIC after about 2 months of waiting, it supposedly means that the package is complete...I guess that theory is no longer valid...

At least you have a UCI number!  Don't worry, just correct whatever they need corrected and get it back to them ASAP!!

FS

The package was complete. It was just full of errors. That's something only the officer will know. The whole package was probably sent back just to keep everything together. The app has a UCI so it will take less than a month to get approval.

so I have now sorted through our whole pile of paperwork again and put it all back in order... who would have thought they could make such a huge mess if it so fast?!  Now I just have to fill in the forms again and then I'm going to get posit tabs and label the re-filled out ones and stack them on top of the incomplete copy of it and send it out hopefully tomorrow! I'm feeling much better now than I was when I got the mail today and like I said at least I have our UCI now!

No need to panic at all, if you have an UCI they're waiting for you! In 2-3 weeks you might have the approval. Chin up!

Wish you all the best!

It sounds like your case isn't straight forward. There's almost always a reason for delays like this. You can order the notes on your file.

They have to go through the application process. If the sponsor is Canadian citizen they can live abroad with their spouse and children.

I don't think they intentionally try to separate families.  I agree with canadiangirl; they are just going through the application process.  When applications are delayed, it's usually for a reason, whether pedantic or not.  You just have to hang in there and be patient (I know, everyone tells you to be patient...this process sucks!).

What I hope is that they move on to March applications next week.  I really want to get approved before the end of July so that my wife's application can be in Hong Kong before September.  If that happens, it's very possible she will get her visa before her medical expires on March 1, 2013.

We're going to Hong Kong around August 13-14 for a few nights.  We're staying at the Courtyard by Marriott which is very close to the consulate.  I think I will pop in to ask a few questions and see how backlogged they are...according to the latest update, HK is taking 18 months for 80%...so at least the timeline has improved, if only by a month.

Good luck to the February applicants who are still waiting...you'll get approved VERY soon!

I finally got sponsorship approval - after almost 125 days.

Application submit on feb 6th. Cic asked for missing signature by mail on may 16th. I replied by normal mail on may 18th. Then approval email received on June 11th. Long waiting......

Now down to 2nd stage waiting. Hope cic won't delay the process again

Good luck to everyone here waiting

Good work! Does anyone know what happens in the Manila office? any VO AOR? Passport request? What is the 2nd step? I have no clue...

2-3 weeks. Some visa officers send an AOR and some do not. Just keep checking ecas.

Are you sure the foreign VO updates e-cas?

no....never in my wildest dreams did I think CIC would take so long.....I was set to wait once it reached the VO office but I truly thought I would have had my approval in May......and my "long" waiting period would have started then...LOL....how naive I was......

Precisely.
Instead of the advertised 42 days when I first sent the app, it ended up being over 130 days. :\ That's over 4 months.

Don't worry KJG you will be approved very soon, from today in 10 days.

If you check the Feb's spredsheet you'll see more than half people approved without an AOR. Your approval could be happen at anytime.

My case is very diffucult, all I need is passing the first stage, the rest I don't care too much.. If they deny me than everything will be upside down.

Good luck and keep fingers crossed. Best regards,

Why do you think there's something wrong with your first stage?
