It varies, no-one can say for sure. There's been timelines here of as little as 6 weeks to as many as 13 weeks, and the FBI says it can take as many as 15 weeks.

Also, the clearance is only valid for so long, so make sure you have your application ready for when it comes back.

I'm waiting for my latest request to be returned to me (this is the third time around.) The first time required 8 weeks, the second 6 weeks. They received my latest request on January 4, 2012 (I sent it via FedEx) and they charged my credit card last week, so I'm expecting it to show up in the near future.
But yes, the time does seem to vary from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

For me, it took exactly 8 weeks, just like what the website says. It can take 8-9 weeks. If you are passed that, you may want to give them a call.

Does anybody has FBI contact information?
And to be perfectly frank, I was told NOT to contact them and there wasn't a way to. Was told by CIC and an immigration worker. Apparently they get annoyed VERY easily, or they just won't tell you anything. Just what I was told. Also they do not do anything until they are paid, so there's no point in even contacting them since it's only been 4 weeks. |

Ye you can call 304-625-2000. Follow the prompts to reach an operator. Once you get someone on the line, tell them you are calling to check the status of your background check. You will be transferred to a customer service rep who can give you an idea of when it will be mailed out. FBI received my request on July 25, I got my report back on September 26.

You should be getting yours in the mail very soon then. I got mine in the mail like a week and Half after they accepted my money. It takes them Time to mail the results for some reason. You should be getting it either this week Or early next werk. Keep us posted |

I called about 8-9 weeks after I'd applied for mine. The rep I reached just told me "It's being processed, wait a few weeks" but then I got it in the mail later the same day. I don't know if not giving you any information is standard or if I just got a particularly unhelpful rep, though. |

Thanks for the FBI contact no. I talked to them today and they told me that my Certificate was mailed on7th Feb. So for now I am waiting for my Police clearance certificate to arrive.

So I received my latest FBI clearance letter today. They received the request on 4 January 2012 (according to FedEx) and they processed it on 9 February 2012, sending it back to me (via FedEx) on 14 February 2012 - hence I received it today.
Thus, just over 5 weeks from their receipt of my card to my receipt of their response.
