Hello Everyone!

I've been lurking around these boards now for a few months, and I have to say they are a wonderful source of information.  My Canadian husband and I got married at the beginning of October, and as of tomorrow I will be mailing my outland sponsor application to him from the United States.  I am so excited to finally be taking this step, though I know the act of waiting is probably going to come darn close to killing me.

And that leads me to my question, I sent for my FBI clearances at the beginning of August, the mailed them back to me at the beginning of November.  The letter they sent back said it was only good as of September 29th.  We hope to have the application to Mississauga by the end of November...that leaves one month on my clearances, which I assume will be taken up by the sponsor approval process, then hopefully it will be mailed to Buffalo.  Since the three months will likely have elapsed on the FBI Clearances does that mean I am going to have to send away for them again?  Anyone have a similar issue?

This is such a frustrating process...and I am so scared I am going to do something that is going to delay my application...any advice or experiences are welcome.

Thank you so much.

No.  As long as CPC-M receives your application within 3 months of the date of the FBI letter, it is valid for A YEAR.  The 3 months cut-off has to do with the application getting to CPC-M, not Buffalo, so you won't need new ones every 3 months.

Hi there,

CharlieD10 is right on the money!!  - I was getting ready to volunteer some advice but the info given by CaherliedD10 is pretty accurate. - On a different note,  the Canadian outland spousal sponsoring process is a walk to the park when compared with the American, mainly because of significant procedural differences and requirements.  Please do not get frustrated, and know that the whole process can go pretty smoothly as long as you follow the guidelines.

Good luck with everything!!  Smiley
