FBI Clearance Timeframe (16-18) weeks?
«

Hello.
I received the request for my meds and FBI Clearance... but it clearly states a timeframe, and when I look at the estimated wait times for the FBI Clearance it's about 16 - 18 weeks.. No way is that close to the timeframe I was asked for... I did as I'm supposed to and filled up the little space with the explanation and typed it on the envelope.
3 questions.
1.- Will they even take into consideration my timeframe and expedite my process at the FBI
2.- What happens if the docs don't arrive in time?.
3.- Will it have an impact in my application?

1. They'll try to accomodate your due date. Put a date approximately 3 weeks from the date you mail your request for the police clearance. That's about the fastest they can get it done, so it's a good target date. Remember to put it both on the cover letter and on the outside of the envelope.
2. You don't want to think about that.
3. Yes.
Also - you can provide a prepaid courier envelope to the FBI to mail your police clearance back. That may cut a few days off of the mail time.

Thanx for the quick response. I didn't know/think about paying for the return... But I guess I was smart on doing them as fast as I could (about 3 days after I got the request), I put in a due date about 2 months after the time I mailed the application.
Do you know if there a good chance they will have them back?
On a side note, Why do they give you a timeframe that's smaller than the expected time it takes to process the applications?

I think CIC knows you can get the FBI clearance in about a month if you ask for it to be expedited. That's why they haven't changed the 90 day response period.
Yes, I think there's a good chance you'll have your police certificate back within 2 months. It'll probably arrive much sooner, actually.
