In an earlier post in reference to the time line on hearing back from the FBI in regards to the clearance check, I noticed that a lot of people were making note to a date that the FBI received their forms.
Im nervous now seeing as how i have not heard anything from them.
Did you guys actually hear from the FBI or do you just know when it was received because you used a courier service with a tracking number?

We sent away for my husbands background check at the beginining of Sept, and are still patiently waiting.

Im not too sure how to follow up with the FBI or if they will even give me an answer if i do call them.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciate... this is one of two things we are waiting on in order to finally send off our complete package.

Thanks so much for your time

I sent mine FedEX and tracked it, that's how I know it was received.

There is a customer service number, it should be in one of those posts on the FBI request time thread.  I have heard how helpful they are depends on who you get when you call.

We got ours back in 7 weeks, including a week in the post from VA to my husband in ON.

I also sent mine tracked, so I would know when it arrived. I also insured it - call me silly but it being delayed would cost us time and money. I did the same when I sent my passport. $2 insurance was worth it. Mine took 2 1/2 months door to door.

Ok... we sent our by Fed-X too... i just wasnt sure if you guys had heard from the FBI directly or if it was just a tracking number...im for sure releived that we're not the odd ones out.

I guess we need to be a little more patient...its just so hard knowing that we're so close to submitting the docs.

I really appreciate your time and your responses...thank you very much.

Mine took nine weeks, called after 8 weeks to make sure it was on it's way.

Ye you can call 304-625-2000. Follow the prompts to reach an operator. Once you get someone on the line, tell them you are calling to check the status of your background check. You will be transferred to a customer service rep who can give you an idea of when it will be mailed out. FBI received my request on July 25, I got my report back on September 26.

Believe me Alf, I understand your worry...we felt the same! As others have said, they do not acknowledge receipt . Ours took about 9 weeks, but I was told it can take up to 12. I think my husband did call after about 8 weeks and was told that it was received, so you should be able to get some info over the phone

Looks like it's taking about 8 weeks for most people.  My husband's cc was charged last week and we called in yesterday to check on the status and the person on the phone didn't have many specifics for us...just said that it takes usually 2-3 weeks once your cc is charged.  We had written "urgent, for immigration- need by Oct 31" on the envelope but doesn't look like that did much! Sad  The worst part of it is that he had previously sent in another FBI request for a different purpose (professional licensing just 2 months ago), but there is no way to use the old check, have to send a whole new one and wait again..sigh!

Positive news... today my husband called the number MSP2YYZ posted above (this being our 8th week of waiting) and they said it has been processed and we should receive it this week.
Turns out the Fed X number i had given my husband to use to return the package to my work wasnt the right account number which had held the delivery of it up just a bit.

So now my suggestion: if you have reached the 8 week mark call that number above and ask for a status update.

Im so excited!!!! We are almost there in submitting this novel of an application!

Thanks again everyone for all of your words and info... this forum really is so amazing and is so comforting knowing we are not alone in this journey.
