Hi hopetoland ! I have to say I am sooo impressed with your application time. I am German living in Canada with my common-law boyfriend and we trying to apply right now. Did you apply Inland or Outland??? When I looked at the processing times (9+9 Months Inland) and (13-Berlin) for Outland I was sooo discouraged and I really would like to know how it went that fast for you? It would great if you could give me some feedback or if there is anything I can do, because I am starting to get really frustrated.. Thank you so much in advance !!!

hi i applied outland. my husband and i live in Germany right now. i guess it went so fast because our application was straight foward. we didnīt include much, we had about 15 photos of several occasions, pictures from the wedding with family and friends. no criminal record, no kids, not much for relatives. and the german post, they act really fast. but i think that was enough to proof our case. they just asked for more evidence that my husband returns to Canada. also we needed just 2 weeks to prepare the application, when we sent it of to Mississauga and we read what the other people included i thought they would sent it right back. i wish you luck p.s. if you are already in Canada then i would do the inland application. p.p.s. iīm not very familiar with the whole process, here in the forum are alot of people who are very experienced. one of my favorits is charlied

Apply outland, even if you are in canada already. Its usually much faster. I applied outland to the London VO while living in Canada. Lots of people do. With outland, you are free to leave canada for holidays, trips back home, whatever, and there is the right of appeal too. And it just always seems a faster route. Good luck!

Hi Pinklady ! I am surprised because I was under the impression you are not allowed to apply outland when you still live in Canada?! But i guess i could go home for a visit, send my papers and then return as a visitor to wait for the approval..is that what you did? We are just in the last strokes to get our papers together, thank you very much for all the feedback !!!

the problem with leaving the country is u may not be allowed back in unless u are from a visa exempt country as not because u have a visa they can deny u the right to enter...this was not to scare anyone but i think once they see that u r here and have never overstay ur visit u should be in good hands

germany is a visa exempt country and i don't think she will have problems re-entering as pinklady said, definately apply outland....for inland it takes 9 months just for the 1st stage approval, for outland u could be done by then the timelines they post r not the same for everyone, u could b in the good 20% and finish like hopetoland in 5 weeks....as for the inland, the timelines look the same for most the people who apply inland in general cannot travel outside canada for an interview, they would need visa to get back to canada, maybe they r out of status, who knows....hence they choose the inland route which also gives them implied status, etc...but u have the luxury to travel without applying for visa before so why would u stuck urself for one year or more with an inland application hopetoland, thanks for ur feedback, i'll keep it in mind...ahh i'm really waiting to pack together too, good luck

Was that sufficient? Thanks.

Hi, No I didnt even go back to England to send the papers in. I was in Canada already as a visitor. We posted them from Canada to Mississauga in December. Then I went back to England for 2 weeks for Christmas, then came back to Canada, again as a visitor. I sent my passport to England from Canada when it was requested and to land I crossed into the USA, then came back and 'landed' at the Canadian border. I could've stayed in Canada the whole time and would've if it wasnt for Christmas. Being from a visa exempt country you should definitely choose the outland route. Outland or inland just means the visa office that processes your application, not physically where you are. Since you are a german citizen you can choose the berlin office. Just make sure you fill in the outland forms, they are different to the inland forms. Another thing, it might say 13 months to process but it likely will be much faster than that. First stage aproval at Mississauga takes 4-5 weeks. London VO says 9 months to process, mine took 2 months. And hopetoland took 5 weeks. Good luck, and if you have more questions about the process there are lots of people on here to help.
