Hi everyone, I applied as a skilled worker in 2006 in Vietnam. Now I am in Canada as study permit status. I want to change my visa into PR. I don't know how to get PR because it says the processing time is 56 months. It is a long time while some people got an approve to become PR. Anyone who know about this case and can you tell me what I should do to get PR as soon as possible? Thank you very much.

If you have been in Canada for a year or longer, you qualify to apply for skilled worker under the new rules in which case it should be faster. Your processing time either through Singapore or Buffalo should be 6-7 months.
The average processing time in Singapore under the old rules is 52 months so maybe your old application is near completion. Make sure that the visa office has your current address so no correspondance goes missing.

Hi everybody I have two questions: 1) What does the term documents transferred mean?, for all i know is we send initial application to NS, then later on full docs to Visa office? 2) I made a stupid mistake, in my initial application I quoted my education level as BACHELORS, yet i have a masters, i corrected this in my full docs send to Visa office, is this a big problem or should i send them a cover letter acknowledging the mistake ?. Thank you all

Speaking 5.5 = 2 points Reading 4, Writing 4, Listening 4.5 would be 1 point each except you can get maximum 2 points for the basic category so you only collect 2 points from there. You have a total of 4 points.

It is 5 ! 3 points for reading , writing and listening .... Plus 2 points for speaking. So total is 5 (not 4).

Please go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG72.asp and scroll about halfway down the page where the table for IELTS scores is. Notice where it says: "Basic Either official language: 1 ( maximum of 2)" This means that he can get maximum 2 points for the basic level. Whether he has 3 or 4 abilities at the basic level, he gets a maximum of 2 points. Therefore, he gets 2 points for speaking (moderate level) and total 2 points for the other 3 abilities (all at the basic level) and that gives him 4 points total.
