According to Canada Post, my family sponsorship application for my parents arrived at Mississauga on May 2, 2011. But CIC has been showing that Issuing acknowledgement letters for applications received on April 29, 2011 for months.
Anyone knows what is going on?

Thanks.

They are issuing acknowledgement letters for upto April 29th so soon you will get your letter. May 2 is only 3 days later.

I'm not sure what the issue is then?
You know it takes 48 months just for sponsor approval? They are working on applications received september 11 2007! And then it has to go to the VO responsible for your country.
Acknowledgement letters are being sent out from applications received April 29th, so you will just have to wait.
Parental sponsorships are not a priority.
With or without a letter, you're in for a long wait!

Hi everyone:
I am also new at this forum. And I would like to sponsor my mother. But what I would like to know is if I start the process right now that I have a job and with my income and my hubbys income I can get to the amount they ask for, what will happen If  by the time they are reviewing my documents I don't have the same job or for the matter the same income. What will happen then? I mean for what I've heard it is taking long time for parent sponsor.
Thanks

It will likely take 5+ years to sponsor your mother. During this time, you must maintain a minimum income level to qualify as a sponsor. If CIC verifies your income at some point during the process and you no longer meet the minimum income requirements, your mother's application will be refused.

Hi Scylla:
Thank you very much for your answer. Another thing I would like to ask. My mother is visiting me under a tourist visa, she will stay 6 months with me. I am trying to decide if it will be better for her to leave canada or to ask for an extension. Would this extension have a bad impact on any future sponsorship application? Or would it be better to stay say 4 months and leave Canada and come back in 2 or 3 months. I mean I am an only child. So of course I am very worried for her situtation. Another thing where do I send the application first? Is is this in Toronto and after to Guatemala office?
My sincere appreciation for your support.

The extension will not have a bad impact on any future sponsorship application. So if you want to request it - go ahead and I hope you get it.

You should send the application to Mississauga.

Thank you very much Scylla. I guess I will be asking for the extension.
To be able to apply for the sponsorship I need a certain income annually, right? So I recently started my job, Does this mean I have to apply until I declared my income meaning I have to wait 1 year to apply?
