Hi, I am an American citizen, and my husband is Canadian citizen, and my son now has dual citz. His time frame to get his dual citizenship was 3 months, he got it like a month later. My husband is sponsoring me here. I sent out my applications in May 2007. Just wondering anyone else sent there's around this time, have you got anything back. It won't even let me check my status online, does that mean they haven't even touched it. Just wondering because I arrived here last year before the whole passport changes, and I don't have my passport yet. Only place I can get it is in the USA right? Just feel like a hostage here not being able to go back and see my family, especially my grandmother who is ill. Just stressful for the time frame, at least I can get my extended visitor pass, haven't even got that. They won't let me get my drivers license here until I have proof that I have that. How long does that take also? Help please.

If you've done an in-land application it seems to be taking around 6-7 months to get Approval in Principle (AIP) so you're still within that time frame and will probably hear something soon.  After that you should be able check your status on line.

I'm not sure about your passport but I think I read that some US citizens had been able to get them through the US embassy here - maybe give them a call to see what's possible?

This site has some information on driving in Canada that might help you http://www.justlanded.com/english/canada/tools/just_landed_guide/travel_leisure/driving
