Hello,

Starting my background checks for immigration to Canada from the USA.

I'm a little confused as to what the FBI wants. Will they accept Livescan (digital) fingerprints? I'm having a hard time finding a place that still does them with ink! I can provide the FBI with the number they need to pull my prints from the national database.

I understand what the directions say about submitting on the official card, but there's nothing to indicate when these were last revised.

Has anyone else done the Livescan prints, and were they accepted?

What you'll end up sending to CIC is your original fingerprint card, which the FBI will stamp "NO RECORD," or "NO ARREST RECORD."

So I believe you're going to have to get your prints done manually, just so you have something to send to CIC.

Just FYI for anyone doing at this stage, I contacted the FBI today as advised by our Immigration Lawyer.

They confirmed that Live Scan digital prints are acceptable.

You do not need to submit them on a card, you only need to submit your completed Live Scan request, the Consulate letter, and the $18 fee.

Good Luck!
