Hello, I need help, I'm a permanent resident of canada since 20 plus years.
I applied to sponser my parents in 2008, send application, payd fees, everything that was needed Smiley April 2009 received a letter that they received my application.

yesterday I received this letter telling me that they are ready to begin processing my sponsership application.
and I have to fill outr the paper on the list.
The document checklist sais I need to do these forms
IMM 0008, IMM5669,  IMM0008DEP, IMM5406, IMM5476, and a few more.

after reading these forms, it seems that if I fill these out that it's me wanting to immigrate to canada, this is so confusing, please anyone can tell me what to do. do my parents have to fill these out? they are in Switzerland.

and to pay the fee?? I payt the fee in 2008
did I get the wrong Document list?
I have 90 days to send these papers back please help
thanks

Does it look like that letter that cic promised to send to sponsors? (you can check cic web site cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob353.asp )

The fee might be the landing fee - i belive that it is not required to pay at the time of application...
Can you please provide more details?
Which forms and documents were requested?
Did they ask to provide all parent's documents - like birth certificates, diplomas, papers from work, etc?

I applied for sponsorship in July 2008 - havent' received anything yet...

I'm waiting for that letter that cic will be sending to sponsors starting from mid November... will highly appreciate any details that you can provide regarding the letter that you received...

your parents need to fill in the forms... IMM 0008 is filled by the main applicant... IMM 0008DEP only if there are dependents that does not fit in the first form... IMM 5406 and IMM 5669 - from all applicants (if you are sponsoring two parents - then one from each of them) ... IMM5476 is use of representative - it's required only if they need a representative... IMM 0008 should be filled in electronically and then printed - it has a bar code...
you can find all instructions on cic web site:
cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp
or cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

are you sure they did not ask for documents related to parents education/work? that's the most time consuming papers...

This is actually good news as they are trying to clear the backlog of parent applications.  So if you are lost you should hire someone to help you because you don't want to mess this up.  OR you should relax, take a deep breath and actually look at the forms they want you to complete.  Use your common sense.  First thing to remember, YOU are the SPONSOR.  Your parents and any siblings in the application are the APPLICANTS.

IMM 008 - Filled in by the PRINCIPAL APPLICANT so either your mother or your father
IMM 008DEP - If there are more than 3(?) children (your eligible brothers and sisters) this gets filled in as well.  If not, ignore it.
IMM 5669 - Filled in by ALL APPLICANTS 18 years old and older so at least both of your parents complete this and any brothers and sisters who are 18 or older
IMM 5406 - Filled in by ALL APPLICANTS who are 18 or older.  Same as above
IMM 5476 - Filled in by both the SPONSOR and the APPLICANTS (18 or older) IF you have someone representing you on the application.  So a lawyer or an immigration consultant

The rest is self-explanatory.  Passport ID pages, birth certificates, photo requirements and any other proof required to show your relationship to your parents.  Read the guide for sponsoring parents and brothers and sisters and it will tell you what to include.

That's the IMM 5669 - Schedule A.  But they don't have to provide proof of that for this type of application.

To zameluzza

You mentioned you applied in 2008; Can you tell me which month you applied 'cause I applied the same year but I haven't received any letter from CIC yet?

I wonder whether they are following any schedules or patterns in dealing with the applications or they pick them randomly...

Thank you in advance and good luck with the application.

As per CIC website, they are working on sep 2007 files.
50 months (working on applications received on September 11, 2007)

You are lucky that you got response so early. If you aren't too sure about the process, just hire someone.

You can throw the processing time out the window as when the Minister imposed the 2 year moratorium on new applications, he increased the quotas to 25K from 15K per year.

I don't know about that... They have recently announced that new rule and CIC website would still be the primary source for the communication to applicants. So when they say, they are working on sep 2007 applications, they aren't bsing.
Do you really think they cut the timeline by 2 years in 1 month? They got my vote, if they did. Grin

this information was requested for parents before on the second step - after application is approved in Mississauga and file goes to a local embassy...

Depends on the region specific guide.  They still have to list it but may not necessarily have to prove it.
