Friends,

Being a students we all have to pack a tons of things, the normal limits of 23 kg * 2 bags for checked and the 6kg limit for handbag always get violated.

For those who have landed, how was your experience with the extra baggage/weight? Were you charged extra for that or were they willing to let you go easily?

I've heard that you can carry as-much-as-you-can in the hand baggage and they do not weight/check it. Is it true?

People who have already landed please share your valuable experience in this regards.

It depends on the airline, they are the ones who charge for excess baggage.
Hand baggage weight is checked by many airlines.
Read the rules posted at your airlines web site.

The weight is not a concern for immigration, but they are interested in what items you are carrying.

Air India and JET offer you 69 kg, else one can always pay $150 and carry 3rd bag.

Thanks for the reply.

The rules for most airlines say that up to 23 is free, and 23-32 is charged extra. Do they strictly enforce the 23 kg limit or is it fine if the bags are 24 or 25 kgs?

How much is the charge if the bag falls between 23-32, and if they really enforce the 23 kg limit?

Thanks,
GS

Many airlines need to enforce the limits, they need all the money they can get.
How much allowance differs, by airline and class of ticket.
The charges are airline dependent, check their website.
