Extension of work permit - Please advise..

Hi,

I am holder of work permit and it is about to expire in July.  I have a US visa.  Instead of applying for extension at vegreville, ab, Can I directly go to bufallo consulate and apply there.  Because I think it will be much faster compared to alberta.   I would like to do this as I have some travel plans. 

Any one had the similar experience...

did  you looked at www.cic.gc.ca. I am sure there must be some information relating to this.
