Hi,

Here is my situation. My current WP expires on 30th September, 2011. My wife is having an open workpermit (expires on the same day as mine) and is employed too.

My employer has applied for a LMO and is waiting for the status. They have no idea when will they receive the LMO result. The worst thing is that my employer is not agreeing to include my wife's WP extension along with my application due to their policies. So far, I have not applied anything for my wife (visitor or WP).

Questions
1) Can I apply for my wife's WP extension once my LMO result is positive? If yes, can she continue to work after her application is filed?
2) In a worst case, if my LMO result is not known until the last minute, can I apply for her WP extension directly (without my LMO result)?

We need some expert advise.

Please note that we don't have lot of time left on our workpermits so we appreciate any quick assistance.

My husband is in the same situation however we have already applied for the work permit extension in August without the LMO.  Now that the LMO has arrived we don't know what to do?  Should we send it in or should we call or should we just wait gor the immigration to contact us.
Please help.
Thank you

i am no expert but as far as im concern you as employee is responsible to apply extension of work permit. You can apply online or by post mail. You dont need approval from your employer since their responsibility is to provide you the LMO. Apply now before you wp expired. You and your wife will be on implied status. Dont wait for the LMO.
