I have a relative that was convicted of crimes over 20 years ago. The crimes have been expunged (wiped away and/or sealed) years ago. I have heard that Border officials do not honor such expungements and that they will either send my relative back or incarcerate him/her at the airport/border because expungement is actually a lie and is punishable under 'misrepresentation'.

Is this true?
