Hi Friends
Most popular destination for settlement has been commonly chosen as Tonorto, BC, Montreal, Alberta....... But Canada as a whole is a land of opportunities. Information here in forum least exchanged on some of the other province/cities in Canada which still have potential and promise but still with less population density to compete for a place to live life...... So it could be considered as alternative choice for settlement for us in future. Here goes some glimpses of one of the little province named Prince Edward Island (PEI).....

About Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is located on the east coast of Canada and is connected to the mainland by the Confederation Bridge.  The province is also called 'PEI' or simply 'the Island'. The capital city is Charlottetown.

Climate and Weather

The climate on Prince Edward Island is milder than the Canadian mainland because the warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence surround it. The average yearly rainfall is 868 mm and the average yearly snowfall is 340 cm. The Island enjoys an average temperature of -7C (19F) in January, and 19C (67F) in July.

Summers are quite warm, but rarely humid. Daytime temperatures are usually in the 20s (70s) and can go as high as 32 degrees C. (90 degree F). PEI has more than 800 kms (500 miles) of the warmest beaches north of the Carolinas. Summer days and evenings have a refreshing breeze. July and August are the warmest and driest months.

Spring is comfortable.  Late May and June are alive with colour and temperatures range from eight to 22 degrees C. (46 to 71 degrees F.). Lobster fishing is in full swing and farmers are planting and cultivating their crops.

Autumn is clear and bright. September afternoons can be quite warm, evenings cool. Temperatures range from eight to 22 degrees C. (46 to 71 degrees F). The gently rolling landscape quickly assumes crimson colours as the harvest begins and continues until November.

Winters can be cold with temperatures ranging between -3 and -11 degrees C. (26-11 degree F). Snow arrives in November and can remain until April. Winter storms cause frequent school and business closures for brief periods.

Here is a recently updated map showing immigration patterns in Canada.  There has been a shift to the western provinces, but Ontario still receives the bulk of new arrivals.

It doesn't do you much good to live in a lovely place, if you can't find a job.  The unemployment rate in PEI is %11.3 2nd highest in Canada.

Thanks Sir for adding the info... Yes it is indeed a challenge for finding Job but as a less dense province we could expect to have less competitive nature of job drive provided the local government could open new horizon of job opportunity. So that we can expect the unemployment rate to come down..... I still believe PEI and Atlanta region have that potential

Thanks David for this complementary info...Yes still its only 0.7% at PEI in 2009 but expect a bit increased rate in 2010 though.... Well to me there are many reason to this trend which also have other side to anticipate.... at 45% rate of immigration, the Ontario, BC going to saturate soon and therefore we need to keep some option of alternatives for less crowdy, less costly, less competitive life......

These info are all available on net but my effort aim to get you with the link and to strike to those are less commonly focused... I think as we all are driving us towards Canada... its not a bad idea to try and know on most of the provinces and their limitation or opportunities....
