Hello everyone,

My name is Rafael and I live in southern Brazil.

I got my CSQ (Certificat de Selection du Quebec) on August 21, 2003 here in Brazil. It was valid until August 21, 2006. Due to some personal problems I couldnīt continue the process until 2006. I entered the Federal Process at the Canadian Consulate on July 24, 2006 (before the expiration of my CSQ). After sending the medical examinations, I got a letter from the Consulate on February 2, 2007 asking for my passport and the payment of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee in order to get my PR visa. I have already payed the fee and sent the passport to the Consulate.

But today (February 23, 2007) an officer from the Canadian Consulate in São Paulo called me and told me they couldnīt issue my visa because my CSQ expired on August 21, 2006.

According to the Canadian Consulate, I need a new valid CSQ in order they can issue my Permanent Resident visa. How could I get a new one, valid for 12 months? Has anyone experienced such a situation?

On the leaflet I received with my CSQ it was written:

"It is not necessary to contact us if your CSQ expires before the
delivery of the visa.  When the Canadian authorities are ready to
issue the visa, they will let us know and may issue a new certificate
to you, if the conditions that had existed did not change .  If the
visa is delivered within the period of validity of your CS, this one
does not have to be renewed."

Thank you so much for your attention.

Yours sincerely,

Rafael
