Just want to hear some stories about hispanic people after landing in Canada. How good or difficult it was? What are the choices we have to improve the language (english)? how was the experience getting a new job?

There aren't many Hispanics/Latinos in Canada (compared to the U.S.), so the first assumption many people seem to make is that you are First Nation and you can be treated as such.

Toronto seems to be developing a Latino community, somewhat in Montreal also. My experience with the First Nation assumption comes from the western part of the country. Its probably not that bad in the East.

This may not be the USA, but Canada has its own ethnic/racial issues. One of which is discrimination/prejudice/racism against First Nations people. The default assumption many Canadians make about Latinos and Hispanics is that they are First Nation, because they aren't used to having a large Latino/Hispanic community in their midst. If that doesn't bother you: fine. If you are sensitive to that type of thing be prepared.

I am hispanic (from US). I've been living in Alberta for 3 years, I've not had an issue in Canada with any type of discrimination.

I was glad to read this. We are moving to Alberta soon (I hope) and my husband is Latino. He is not very sensitive but it is nice to hear that it should not be a problem.
