Expected Landing Date From CIC

My wife's medical will expire in Sept.  What is a reasonable amount of time they will allow us to prepare for a move back to Canada? I just provided some extra info on my intention to live in Canada and I am wondering how far away we are from hearing an answer.  Also, they gave us 45 days to provide the info...do they wait 45 days to look into the file again?

Getting concerned that we will only have a month or two to pack up and leave.  What are our options if it gets late and the move is a total rush?

an expensive option would be to fly to Canada so your wife can "land", then fly back to HOng Kong for your things.  you will also need some sort of travel document as she will not have her PR card as yet...

Like DeNiro said in "Heat"..."You want to be makin moves on the street, have no attachments, allow nothing to be in your life that you cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you spot the *PR visa in the passport*...

In other words, land before the expiration...who cares if it costs you a bit of time or money...after going through this process, don't let anything get in your way...just get to Canada!!! Land!!! Get that PR card going so you'll have it in a few months!

Hey CMS....my medical will expire in Oct and we are also using the HK Office.  When did you send the info on your intention to live in Canada?  My wife sent hers on 1 March shortly after she received the request in early Feb.....but so far, we have not heard anything from the HK Visa Office......can you give me some more info about your case as well?  Thanks!

I sent it in last Friday and it arrived in HK on Monday.  I was approved as a sponsor on Jan 16th--file was transferred to HK.  Hk acknowledged it Feb 6.  On March 29 I got the request for more info.

I dont have a job lined up so I wrote in detail and/or showed; 1.  My plan when we arrived.  2.  Showed my acceptance letter to school and my plan to network.  3.  Letter from my current employer stating they know I am going to leave when wife gets PR. 4.  PLan on what we need to do when we leave Taiwan. 5. Living arrangements in Canada

1. Resignation Letter
2. A clearance letter from the Inland Revenue saying that all outstanding taxes are paid
3. Documents showed that we sold our house in HK
4. Emails between us and the realtor that we are lookimg for houses in CAN

I have a feeling that you will get an answer soon.  I also have a feeling that they wait the entire 45 days until they look at your file again.  Good for you since you will be 45 days soon, bad for us

It seems you have enough now, but I am just speculating.  I also am hoping I have put in enough effort.  On top of what I mentioned I provided a copy of our lease agreement that states our current lease expires in Aug.

I included every possible thing to prove my intention to return to Canada with my wife and son.  The only two things I did not include: resignation letter and airline tickets (but I included explanations as to why I didn't include those...if they request additional proof, I will resign and buy my tickets)...

As my wife is not working, and we have explained that we feel it is important for our son to have his mother raise him for the first few years before sending him to school, I can't see the VO demanding a resignation for me since I am the only one with an income...but if they do, I will do what they require...we have enough savings to last a few years here, though I do not want to eat all our savings, because this is for our relocation and our new life in Canada!

For all those who have yet to submit their applications...tip...include every possible piece of evidence with your application.  You don't want to be delayed later on in the process...so write a detailed account of your plans when you arrive in Canada, proof of living arrangements, job offer, e-mails with realty / banks...etc...a letter from family stating you can live with them until you sort yourself out...etc...be thorough to avoid delays!

I hope that they will get back to us soon.  Actually, I sent an email to them to see if they have received the further proofs that we sent over in early March yesterday and they replied to me this morning saying that our case is pending for review from an officer.  So, it's just a standard reply....

Anyway, we did not include that much of information in our inital application....we just included a letter from my sister-in-law saying that she is okay to let us move in with her when we first land.  Also, we have opened a bank account with HSBC in Canada.  That's about it!

Let's hope that they are satisfied with what we have provided and they will get back to us soon.
