I am assuming your VO is not buffalo. In case you are planning to land & start looking for job to get settled, Dec is not idle month. Financial year starts-ends from Jan to Dec. And Dec is vacation time also, so least jobs are available in Dec, I am not suggesting that it's not possible to get a job in Dec but it is tough to get.
good luck.

for school-age children, i believe the public schools offer EAL (English as Additional Language) program to students whose first or second language is not English/French (Canada's 2 official languages). you can usually find out about it in Toronto's public school board webiste. Also, Ontario has a website for new immigrants. I bet you can find more info there.

ESL and French language courses are free for new immigrants and their dependants. These are available in adult learning centres, neighbour hood services and many other places.

It's free for the PA as well. Reach the NNC (Neighborhood Newcomer Centre) & they'd guide u further.

The English courses r provided under LINK program, they r offered in both Morning (Full time) & Evening (Part time) classes. The timings r usually as under:

Morning:- 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Evening:- 6:00 OM - 8:00 PM

French has very few locations outside Quebec - in Ontario Explorer101 has a took know of it.
