I appreciate any info on this matter. When you enter with PR card from US to Canada by air or land do they stamp your passport? What does the stamp say? Both land and air get the same treatment?

There is a high probablity that your passport will be stamped when you come in by air... I'd put it at 95%. There is a very low probability that your passport will be stamped when you come in by road... I'd put it at 5%. As a matter of fact, the last time I came in by road, the boarder agent did not ask for my passport. She just requested for my PR card.

Based on my experience the "by road" estimate Alabaman gave is low. The stamps have Canada logo at the top, then a number under it, then a date in the middle and underneath that it says "P.A.I./A.I.P." for both recent land crossings and airport stamps for Ontario. The Montreal stamps (I pretty much always flew into there) say "Dorval" in that spot.

Each POE has it own stamp. PIA/AIP is Pearson International Airport. Montreal is probably now PET for Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Vancouver Airport is VIA.
