Hi there~

I was being sponsored by my husband.  We've sent in the application back in Dec 2007.  I've got a letter from the CIC office saying they've transfferred my case to Scarborough's office in April 2008.

From then onwards, I am still waiting for a reply.  I've called the CIC office to check on my status.  However, the rep. said my case is not due until April 2010.

The problem is I am on student permit at the moment, however, my visa expires in July 2009.  I wanted to know would I be able to extend my visa by applying for an Open Work Permit?

Please help~

Have you received AIP?  If you did, then yes, you can apply.  Does your degree/program fall into the criteria that qualifies you for an OWP?  If it does, then do it.  If the answer is no to the above, then you would have to apply for a change of conditions and request a temporary resident visa which will not allow you to work.  Good luck.

I want to know what is an "AIP"? I only got a letter from the CIC office saying they've transfferred my case to Scarborough, and there are no further instructions as to what I can do and stuff. The only thing is there is a case number to it.

Also, you mentioned i can apply to temporary visa, but under what ways though? Visitor Visa? or there is another way to do it?

Thanks for the quick reply.  I am just confused and don't know what to do during this time, while I am waiting.

Thanks again.

AIP is first stage approval. If you received that, then you can apply for an Open Work Permit (IMM 1249)
