We are a family with UK and NZ citizenship and are thinking about a move to Canada. The first question is whether or not a formal job offer is needed to gain the necessary points to enter Canada?

I have completed on-line assessment and we are eligible.

We did not use any immigration experts when we went to NZ as their fees were too high for something you can do yourself. Is it the same with Canadian immigration agents?
Can anyone advise?

So you have enough points but you also need to check on the website that your occupation is one of 38 on their most wanted list and if not, you will need a job offer.  You don't need an agent to do the paperwork.  It's fairly straight forward if you read through all the instructions.
