Hi,

I am new to this. Though in the eligibility test, my score is 71 (pass marks is 67), still i am not sure about my eligibility for fed skilled class. I have masters degree and working in academics as research associate. Do i qualify under 2121?
I am in extended OPT status in US , so what should i write in "current status in country", Non resident alien??

Thanks,

NOC 2121 is for Biologists and Related Scientists, if you are a Biologist (not an RA) and have had 1 years experience in the NOC, then you can apply.  Yes you are non resident in the US.

Thanks for replying. My degree from US university is in Biology and I am also working in the field of Biology but my job title here is not biologist. It's research associate/scientist what usually is.

How do you prove those two are more or less same?

And just want to make sure, do i need to take IELTS test?

thanks,

In the Letter of Employment that your supervisor writes, you would need to make sure that the description of your your duties and responsibilities align with the NOC description for 2121 -

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=2&val1=2121&val11=research+scientist&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

...rather than 4161 (for example).
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/SearchNocCodeResult.aspx?val17=4161&val18=0&val19=0

or 4122 (Graduate RA -are you a full-time employee, or part-time student RA? )
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=4&val1=4122&val11=research+assistant&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Yes, you need to take the IELTS.
