Education Points

I am Aamir 36 years Old from Pakistan, just going to file my application for skilled worker. I just need your assistance regarding education points. I have the following education:

M.Phil Course Work Know as MAS i.e. Master in Applied Sciences (in Applied Economics) from Applied Economic Research Centre. University of Karachi, I got admission after country wide competitive exam for the admission of this course at world wide known centre. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------1 year program
Masters   (Economics) ------------------------------------------2 year program
Bachelor (Major Economics) -------------------------------------2 year Program

I have consult with one local consultant saying that I will get the same marks for MA (Economics) & no additional marks will be awarded for my MAS, as it shows that it is another Master degree & no extra points awarded to additional Master Degree holders if someone have more than one Masters.
But its Name shows it is Master but it was the complete one year course work of M.Phil as stated on my Mark sheet.

On the other hand I have completed 17 year of education from Pakistan. But I don't know if they award the same marks to all whether they studied from Pakistan, U.K or Canada in the same period or with the same degree?

So please advise me how many points I achieved 22 OR 25?

Hi, although i dont know much abt it,but in my view u ll be awarded 25 points IF u ve completed atleast 17 years of full time studies.See wht CIC site says. i hope others members can also contribute.

Thanks for feedback, but Still in confusion!

Today again I contact the local consultant dealing only with Canadian immigration; I quote the reference of CIC Web site regarding education points. Link & detail is as

You have a master's degree or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study.

But again he said that I have 5 years of experience in Canadian consultancy & I have not seen even a single case with 17 years of study got 25 points from Pakistan, also how it could be possible that 17 years of study from Pakistan equal 17 years of study from Canada?

He also quote the example as Pakistan's Master = U.K's Bachelor so if Same  Degrees are not equal then how no. of years could be same for Pakistan & Canada i.e. 17 years study from Pakistan is not equal to 17 years of study from Canada or UK.
I want to apply but confused due to said imbiguity, any solution?

Hi,amir,
I think u shd consult another consultant as well n see what he says.yes its the case with some pakistani credentials tht they r not evaluated equivalent to international standards.But if u  get even 22 points for ur education,n ve 4 yrs experience,21  for tht,age points 10,n if u get a band of 7.0 in every module of IELTS u ll get 16 points for it thts make the total of 69 points .i think u ll be surely thru it.N if u r married n ur spouse has a bachelor degree u can also get 4 points of her as well.i ll also like to advice u to apply by urself instead of using a consultant, as its a proven experience of many ppl tht most consultants r just waste of money n time.its not a difficult process n many ppl at this forum ve also done it. i hope it helps.

Ok If I got

Education -22 minimum
Experience-21
age points-10
Wife Education- 4 or 5? (As with me, she has more than 17 years study with two Bachelors (B.A -2 YEARS+ B.Ed-1.5 years+ M.A English 2 Years & finally 1 year TEFL (Teaching of English as a  Foreign Language) Diploma. She is Lecturer with more than 4 Years of Experience.

IELTS- 8 points minimum by getting 6 bands in each section. But it is difficult to get 7 or higher band in any one section to double the required immigration points from 2 to 4 to get 67 points.

Total = 65 points.

Again 2 marks less, any advise?
As we have no kinship & no arranged employment, from where two more marks could be achieved? From my 17 years? Or one additional mark of my wife's education as she has more than 17 year's education? Or TEFL is the only option?

On the other hand which case is stronger if I apply myself or my wife apply as a main applicant?

   well i think u r too much cautious ,i know many ppl who ve just bachelors degrees,unmarried ,no relatives in canada but ve been positive enough to assume tht they r going to get all 16 points for eng. language n ve applied.secondly i think the one who has  done masters ,shd not ve much problems in getting 7.0 band atleast in only one module.U dont ve to submit the result now u ll ve to submit them atleast after 5 yrs or so. so start preparing b4  six months or so n take the exam when s required by cic.Believe me it ll not be difficult.And as far as ur wife s concerned i think both of u ve got equal chances of qualifying but if u r not sure abt ur english lang skills then i think ur wife could be the better one ,as she might ve the chance of scoring good points in IELTS.

I have submit the IELTS fee for my wife, now if she got 6 (as still old HSMP policy from pakistan)over all & 7 in any section then I plan to apply for uk as well as canada simultaneously through my wife as main applicant.
