My wife is from Denmark. Her PR card is expired since 2009.She follows me abroad since 2002.I am her sponsor,Canadian citizen.
So to renew the card she doesn't need a travel document because she's Danish (No visa required).Isn't it?
But there is no way to apply and renew from abroad where we live through the closest Canadian embassy?
We have to go home and apply physically and wait more than 140 days.
I dont plan to come back soon,so can we forget about that card til we come back?Or not?
Thanks.

As a PR, she should say that she is a PR when she enters Canada and show her expired PR card and if she has a copy of her landing papers as well, that will help but she does not need to apply for a visa.

She does not need to apply for a new PR card right now though, she can do it whenever you are in Canada.

It is not possible to do it through the embassy but it is possible to ask for it to be expedited if she has plans to travel.  I wouldn't guarantee that a month would work but if she arrives in Canada and asks for it to be expedited and shows a ticket back after 6-8 weeks, they'll probably be able to do that.
