Please can someone tell me how long it takes to get a file number from the time CHC confirms reciept of documents?

it takes around 8 to 12 weeks to get PER from CIC

I always wonder why people call it PER (positive eligibility review) while actually in CIO email it is called "positive final determination" so it should be pronounced as PFD I suppose....... Smiley

Thanks for the responce. is 8-12weeks the maximum? Can it be lessthan 8-12weeks or exactly 8-12weeks

It is final in a sense that after this stage when file is transferred to your visa office, very less work needs to be done by visa office probably only back goround checks / security checks / issuance of medicals. Rest has already been done.

Ok dear, thanks so much.so is it possible for you to fall within the cap after submitting your documents but get your file number much much later. how do one know when not to submit documents
