Congrats sofiajohns12 To all the members I have just joined the forum today.Been a bit of a passive reader of this forum for quite some time and feel like I know most of the members already. We applied in May 2007 from Dubai and were quite sure our papers will take a long time to get processed. We received our passports today  after a long wait with visa. When I collected them from the lawyers office I was too excited to check the relevant details. My wife just came home and realised all our visas have this plastic seal on them except my wife's passport. Can anyone tell me if this will be a problem ? Has anyone else experienced this ? We plan to land in June 2012 during the kids school break Also does anyone know if we need to write back to CHC London or can this be corrected from Abu Dhabi ? Your replies/advice would be appreciated Peace

Hi all y'all,
I am an applicant from the Sultanate of Oman. I was wondering if I could share my experience with you guys being so close. Actually I applied three years ago for a family permanent visa as a skilled worker. I did that thru a lawyer who is settled in Dubai. Now, he has just notified me that I got the the UK approval and my medicals have issued. I intend to do the medicals soon in Muscat and I was told that I would get my visas in 2-6 months. However, I have no slightest idea about what to do when I land in Canada, thing which I have to do in no more than 12 months after I do the medicals. Could anyone kindly inform what is to be done once I land there and whether the government of Canada will help me settle and find a job.
Thanking you so much for you help in advance.
N.B. I know I am NOT settled in Dubai but you the closest folks I can refer to.

Welcome to the forum Elyas.We have a member here [user ID: mycan]; he's also from Oman. He has already gotten his PR visa & is flying on 23 Mar 2012. U may like to touchbase with him. -Pls read few more threads [topics] on this forum [website] & u'd know almost everything about 'coming to Canada'.
-Yes, once u do ur meds -- u could expect ur PPR in 3-5 months.
-And as u submit ur pps -- u could expect ur visa in 4-6 weeks max.
-The Canadian govt. does assist newcomers in many indirect/covert ways, but u shouldn't expect them to offer u a job too.For everything/anything otherwise, we [the forum members] r here to assist u. Good luck. Qorax |

That is so nice of you, indeed. Well I have been thru some of your postings and just feel that I am far behind to catch up with you all. It is true that this the first I have access to this forum and have just come across it by accident. I have plenty of questions to ask but feel I'd look kind of out-of-date person. Anyway, I will to try to update myself coz I have almost lost hope ever since I applied that I have forgotten everything about it. Once aging thanx buddy for ur reply. Dear Richie, Please spend some time to read previous threads and you might find about shipping companies. However, as Captain and the seniors have mentioned earlier, please do not bring anything to Canada that cannot fit in suitcases.
