hello to all!
how will we able to know if the slots for engineers are already filled up or for this kind of job in applying for skilled migrants?
my friend, chemical engineer was advised not to apply by his consultant because it was already closed. he should apply as laboratory technician instead and provide certificate of employment out of thin air.. is this really necessary?
thats why im scared to apply also, as i am also a chem engr with environmental and safety experience.

Hi all, I am writing this post almost 3 months after landing in Vancouver.I had applied from Dubai and got my visa after 16 months. Landed at Vancouver Int'l airport. The immigration and customs officials were very nice. I did not face any problem as I had prepared all my documents very nicely (THANKS QORAX).The officer was pleased to see all documents in an organized manner. He informed me that I will receive my PR card within 45 days (I recd. on time).I was out of the airport in 45 minutes.
My friend had rented an appartment for me close to all amenities (schools, bus stop, stores), which is important in initial days here.Next day I went to services Canada and applied for the SIN card (without any hassles). Then I opened a bank account (again friendly and helpful staff).
The next day I went for the driving license. They gave me a book and asked me to read and then come for the knowledge test (on computer).I read the book for around 2 days and gave the test and passed. They told me that since I have a UAE license I can appear for the road test any time. I went there the next day and gave the road test and passed (they let you drive for around 45 minutes on different roads).
A few days later I bought a car. And at the same time I started applying for jobs.Finding a job is a full time job and after around 60 applications and 4 interviews I found a job (after 2 months). Its a good job and pays me OK. My advise is to be mentally prepared to face the hardship here in finding the jobs.Be prepared to face rejections but stay positive.

hi forum members,
Here's our timeline from CAS...
Application received - June 15, 2009 Reviewed appplication and sent letter - August 06, 2009 Transferred to London England office - August 11, 2009
Consultant requested us to submit the document when we received our file number on August 07, 2009. We have submitted our documents on November 01, 2009. From then on we have been checking the online status and there are no updates until Feb 09, 2011.
Suddenly there are updates that application was reviewed and sent letter on March 09, 2010 which we didn't received. And at the end of the status it says that - A decision has been made on our application.
After a week from Feb 09, 2011, we tried to check the online status again and we could not access it anymore.
We have tried to check it from our consultant and they say that they have not received any letter. They said that they have sent the follow-up and still waiting for the update from the immigration London office.
However, it is now almost a year and we still dont know the status of our application.
Would it be possible that our application has now been denied?

Much blessings Dear Friend, The NOC code you have checked is not correct please chk the below for the exact NOC for chemical Engineers http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2006/welcome.aspx ............ As chemical Engg. are not there in 29 eligible Skilled workers list so please go through all the duties and job responsibilities which have been fulfilled by you in last 10 yrs for any job for atleast 1 year continuously. you can apply for that NOC, Designation of your held job does'nt matter provided you have fullfilled the required duties and responsibilities
