Oh, mine is a 'modern TV' too... purchased here - 'Samsung, 46" LED, 2010 edition' -- nope doesn't work on PAL stds.

In fact, in Future Shop, they didn't have a single piece which'd work on multiple systems... any brand. Yes, they r available - but unfortunately, not on the shelves.

Qorax

Ps.: Neither is my Harman/Kardon Home Theatre system... it's a PAL [from Dubai] - doesn't work with the Samsung TV... I'm only using it as a 7.1 H/T Receiver, connected to my Samsung Blu-ray player, thru Optical Cable. And yes, my HD Camcorders do not work as well [Dubai PAL stds], JVC HD7, HD3, GZMG330 [SD cam], Toshiba-Camileo [Ultraport] & Pentax-Optio [digicam]. So doesn't my kid's PS3, WII(i) & other paraphernalia.

Dear Captain,

Got your point..

Its such a pain when our lovingly collected artefacts are of no use anymore.. Cry
..
And especially in dubai resale value of electronics is nothing more than peanuts..

Bonjourcanada

Yes sir, peanuts it is...

Oh, did I mention -- all DVDs & BDs also do not play here [I have 998* of them, brought all of them here too] !!!

But, there's a way around... place the newly acquired Canadian TV+Systems+Discs @ the living room; and all those Dubai ones @ the bedroom, yes fetch a PAL TV, for playing those awesome loving collections! I'm doing that - shall get my Samsung LCD-42" TV from Dubai during my next trip.

Qorax

*Purchased another 66 BDs & DVDs here already [NTSC ones] - I'm crazy many'd say!

Seniors plz advice:

i have send an email to "re-london-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca" just now enquiring about the status as i completed 9 months after 2nd AOR.

My questions is:

1. Do they send any confirmation email ( automated reply ), i am asking this because this is my first email to CHC and just to make sure that email address is correct.

2. i have seen the processing times on CIC website, it has changed from 12 to 16 months for London Office. This 16 months starts from 2nd AOR?

1. Yes, we receive an 'automated' response imdtly... However, the VO wouldn't send any confirmation reply.
2. It commences from the day our complete package reaches the VO... however, we shouldn't rely on that timeframe*.

Qorax
*'Coz, it's for "best-case-scenarios"... most applicants wouldn't get that timeline.

Dear Qorax,

My mother is a canadian citiizen already and is receiving her pension here in ontario. In case me and my husband find a job in different province, eg. alberta or vancouver and my mother join us to take care or our children.

Will this affect her pension if she move with us to another province?

Thank you

CPP is a federal subject - she should be fine with it.
