A Question: Is there any Canadian bank operating in the UAE? An account in one would make things simpler with money transfers.

Siawo There's no canadian bank operating in Dubai/UAE. However, u can pre-open a Canadian Bank a/c from here thru *Scotiabank's rep office -HDFC bank, Bur-Dubai. *It is one of the best 3 banks of Canada. Check details at: http://www.startright.scotiabank.com. Qorax

I know HSBC also offers to open an account that can be transferred to Canada. All the Intl Banks do... HSBC, Stanchart, RBS, Citi etc. However, they r costlier to maintain. And their presence is not as good as the top 3 Canadian banks. I would avoid them.

HI Qorax I appeared in interview 2day in Abu Dhabi. Interview was ok but they did not inform me any thing at the end +ve or -ve. I asked her how was my interview then she told me that it was fine but CHC London will communicate whatever it would be. You have any idea what lay for me next and what happens normally in this situation? Thanks

Hi Ather,
Good relief! From what I understand your interview must have gone pretty well, your imdt come-back to the forum suggests that. If nothing drastically occurred there, I'm sure u'll sail thru comfortably.
That remark of the lady that 'it was fine' seems to be a +ve signal. Plus, if she didn't frown anytime or u looked vague in any query, it's gonna be good. So, cheer-up pal !!!
Regards, Qorax.

HI When she started interview she told me that to improve quality of processing of applications for PR, we conducted this interview. She also told me that they have come from CHC London. she asked me some questions about my current job, job descriptions, daily routine etc. But most surprising thing was that she only asked me the docs of current employment that too she returned but she did not ask me any other doc even though in an interview letter they have asked me a number of different docs to bring at the time of interview. i.e Education docs of principle applicant, spouse, new application form for parmanent residency, back ground detail of each family member, proof of funds, interview letter etc. but all the docs i brought back as she did not ask me any docs except current employment papers. One question she raised that my visa on passport is Sales Supervisor but on company contract it is Marketing Manager and i have also showed my current job as Marketing Manager. I told her that in UAE mostly company do this. bcoz according to Dubai Labour law, a company must pay more than 10000Aed to marketing manager whereas i am getting salary less than this amount. So in my offer letter my designation is Marketing Manager with salary less than 10000Aed and my company gave me visa of Sales supervisor. But my job is Marketing Manager. what u people think about this question. advice would b appretiated. thanks

i think after this the officer here will communicate with london and tell them they were satisfied .... then the normal process will continue and soon you will get ppr .... dont worry..... as long as they didnt grill you its ok .... see they told you as you said this was more of a quality improvement/control exercise ... at least what i feel .....
i see you are an AEO case .... did they ask you for bank statements or proof of funds ...... did they ask you any questions about your canadian employer .... or did they in any way ask you or try to find out wether your employment in canada was geniune and you were qualified to do it and wanted to join that job...... please discuss .....
i dont see anything to worry if they were very casual means they were already satisfied ... just had to follow a protocol .......
best of luck ... please discuss.....
regards. kash.

Its true what you said about the visa. Even if they ask around, I'm sure they will discover that what you said is true. I hope and pray that our interview goes as smoothly as your did. I'll keep you all posted.
