Dear Qorax, I wish you can help in guiding on how to open a bank account in Canada from Dubai.
I called the number you posted in other thread but they told me that they are not dealing with Scotia Bank anymore.. Do you know any other option?? I would really appreciate your help Captain...

Now u cant open bank account from Dubai - in Scotia bank.

only option now is from india as they have 4 branches there.

I was told that there are fixed yearly quotas now a days and once the quota is finished they stop processing any further, I got my Visa stamped and retunred last week,
Passport request was send in Nov 2011 and resend in Jan 2012 after i did not got the intial mail, but keep the hopes up..........

My wife was born in uae. Her birth certificate is in arabic. I donot know if i
1. Have to translate it? If yes then i reside in al ain, how do i do it?
2. Should go to the hospital of birth and request for one?
Her place of birth is sharjah.
All help appreciated.

Buddy its very simple

take the Birth certificate in arabic to any legal translation center - (many are there near typing centers) and get the Certificate translated to English with their stamps. no need to go to hospital if u have one already

I send my passports fr stamping to london office.they replied my email  that they have posted pps back after stamping as i am in need of passport urgent because i need to travel. now i dont know how to track n with whom?? any idea will they send directly to me or to embassy in abudhabi...? pls help i need passport urgently fr travelling.

Banking Choices upon 'landing'

TD, Scotiabank & CIBC r the most favored banks here (TD, a shade better) - as they r present everywhere. We'd be hard pressed not to find either of the three in any/every town, even if it's remote. Moreover, these 3 bank's ATM machines could be found anywhere... not that we cannot use other's ATMs for w/drawing our monies - but, it'd add some addnl transaction charges [usually $2].

While RBC is the largest bank & BMO - the oldest bank of Canada -- however, they seem to have lagged behind the first 3 in marketing, especially with the newcomers. Nothing wrong with them either, but just that the other 3 r omnipresent - and prominently advertised too.

Besides, each of them have similar product bundles, some good in one aspect, while the other in something else. All the 3 also provide u a free safety locker for the 1st yr (only for newcomers). However, some of their branches might not have that facility.

NOTE:
Currently TD Bank has the 'longest operational' retail banking hrs. Its most branches operate for 12 hrs [from 8AM - 8PM] - yes, we can knock their doors at 8PM for any of our 'personal' banking tasks!

1. I'm with TD... though had initially opened a Scotiabank a/c from overseas (but switched later for no serious reason).
2. TD gives me a savings, chequing & credit card bundle - with chequing having no monthly charges (for any transaction/s) while keeping a bal of $5K.
3. I'm also aware that they offer "unsecured" $1K credit card to every newcomer, which is preety good.

1.WHEN YOU HAVE SENT YOUR PASSPORT?
2.WHEN TEHY REPLIED YOU?

THEY WILL SEND TO ABU DHABI AND THAN YOU WILL RECEIVE THROUGH ARAMAX AT YOUR DOOR AND AT THAT TIME YOU HAVE TO PAY AS WELL.
