Hi,
I felt honored to meet you and your family at the airport to see me off to Bangalore, India. Thank you & my regards to your family. As I informed you when we met, it is better to complete the meds as early as possible. This will speed up the process. Do not delay.
mycan
Hey, Mycan, How are you my freind? I hope you are enjoying your stay in Banglore awaiting your grand departure to Canada. Well, concerning my meds, they have been delayed by the only DMP in Muscat. Anyway, he contacted me and we arranged an appointment next week. Hope things will go the way we intend. wish me good luck with my meds. I wish you a good stay among your dears and a well planned departure and landing in Canada. Thanks for everthing you have done for me so far. Looking forward to meeting you in Canada. Abuelyas

Dear Qorax and Dubai fellows,
By the grace of Almighty Allah, I received my PPR yesterday via email after 1.5 months of my medicals. They have given me 45 days to courier the original passports to CHC London along with 2 recent photographs of all.
I have the following questions.
1. What is meant by self addressed envelope? Which envelope is to be used here? 2. Which courier company is to be used for sending the passports from Dubai to London? 3. My wife's passport is expiring in 8 months time. So, do you suggest getting it renewed and send her new passport? In case I send her current passport for PR visa stamping and get it renewed after getting the PR visa stamping, would this be a problem at the time of travelling to have a PR visa on a previous passport? 4. How long CHC London usually takes to return the passports back to the applicant? 5. They have not yet returned my original documents. What do you suggest to get them back?
Thank you for your time.

Congratulations ja77! #1 & #4: - The self addressed envelope will be used by Abu Dhabi Canadian Consulate office to return your duly stamped passport. The Abu office will courier it to your self - with a minor fee (paid on delivery) which is for the Aramex courier (I think some 20 Dhs per passport but cannot remember the exact amount). This is done for UAE since we have PO Box addresses here. But London VO does not despatch passports directly to PO box addresses - hence the same is sent in batches, once in 2 weeks or once a month to Abu who then despatches them onward to the applicant via courier. - You will be contacted by the courier company on your specified mobile number. Hence it is usualy a good idea to mention that on your 'self addressed envelop' - the size that you think can accomodate the passports, and few other forms/advices related to landing (e.g. the IMM...). - It can take around 6 weeks from the time London receives your package. In my case it took 8 weeks (Dubai - London - Dubai). Have heard some applicants receiving it back in 4 weeks flat as well. # 2: - I had used DHL - in my experience secured as well as traceable on their web - including the name/initials of the person who receives it at London CIC. #5: - Out of curiosity which 'original' documents are you expecting to be returned by CIC. Wouldn't contacting the CIC help?

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like to get the senior members opinion on what is the best way to go about the Canadian immigration process. Cause my family has applied through Primer and after taking the initial 500$ they never seem to have time anymore. So that was a very bad setback that we faced, but now we have decided to still go ahead. Thus i would like to know what consultancy firm do you guys think is good or if we should go ahead and do the whole thing on our own. please do let me know what do you guys think is a good option and any relevant information would be helpful. Thank you.
Regards, Faraz

Dear Members,
While filling the form IMM0008, please advise what 'status' should i put for my wife (being housewife) and child as I being the 'worker'.
'Others' is not working when i validate the form, so can I use 'Permanent Resident' as we are living in UAE.
Please advise. Thanks!

Hello faraz999, Welcome to the forum and you have already taken the first right step by joining here. Applying directly is probably the best option, however like all things 'right' - this option will involve good amount of preparation / homework. Depending on ones personal situation, this can tend to be hard work for some. However, this forum is a fantastic resource centre and numerous senior memberstake out time to respond to the oddest of queries. (few newbies like me, also try to pitch in with humble opinions) If you are just about starting this 'awareness' journey, the suggestion would be to first look at what is already available - i.e. the questions you may have would have already been answered by some member before. So spending time prior to asking the question could save your time in awaiting responses. But to go down this path, you may want to first give say a couple of weeks of research on the web. This forum, CIC website are good places to begin with. How much research? - say a disciplined couple of hours on weekdays plus more like a day's work on the weekend. After that if it seems sustainable, then you could go down the route of applying directly. Once you get the hang of it - it will really be a breeze. Many have done it - successfully. As far as any other agent is concerned - since you have already paid up AED 1800 or so, if you decide to eventually NOT apply directly, a more concerted effort to work with your current agent may be worth a try. Unless they are absolutely hopeless. Do remember, any agent will 'respond better' once they see that you are a well informed applicant. So increasing knowledge base would always come in handy, as well as save precious dollars ahead. Good luck

Thanks for the comments. Original documents include original birth certificates for the children, original marriage certificate, and original marksheets for my wife's bachelor's degree.

ja77, IMHO you should immediately contact CIC requesting return of the said documents. They may require notarised copies of these documents for their records - since these were part of their decision making. To me such documents are some of our most important assets, hence I would take all possible measures and advise asap. Apart from any specifically mentioned document - e.g. Police Clearance certificate et al - CIC always advises to send only duly notarised copies, transcripts from college/University etc. Not originals. Anyway - for a large organisation like CIC it may take focused efforts from your end to retrive these back. If any other forum member has such experience let us hope they respond.

I would suggest not to loose hope and dont let it go... Contact the agent again and again.. preferablly have a meeting with them and ask them the status of your application.. I know most of the persons let the agent go on their way once they dont receive any attention from them so giving them a chance to earn some dollars w/o doing any extra efforts. Do you know what is the stage of your case? have they submitted any application or not? if yes, have they provided any evidence? Better ask questions to them and post their answers here also so you can take expert advice from others and you can also know if they are not lying to you. My suggestion is to control your case yourselve... meaning you should know every bit of that even it's managed by a counsultant. HTH

They have grant me only 20 point for my education though I have a master degree from accredited university in Pakistan ( Preston University) . Seems that they have not recognized the same!!! Anyway good luck for everybody. BTW I filed my application in May 2011 FYI
