The need to switch drivers licenses to Ontario (or all of Canada) is mandatory within 2-3 months from the time you settle, apparently.  But what if you have settled in a province like Ontario, but are not sure if you want to settle permanantly in that province?  As long as you don't drive, is it possible to simply not get the new license until you decide whether to stay there or move to another province?

If you get an Ontario license, it is very easy to switch with a license of another province if you move.  If you don't drive, then you don't need a license in Canada.
