hi there..i felt the same after hearing it from some piple so i called and asked..the immigration said no..quering doesnt delay the process..plus in my case, calling them also identified some errors they made in their notes which lead to my process taking up 3 extra months ..so it always helps to know what going on

Hi Shaaz,
Yes, now I know that you should be enquiring about your file to see what is going on. In my case everything got delayed to begin with. When I applied for my parents I was going to school full time, but I wrote a letter to CIC, which I sent along with my application, mentioning that I just finished my 1 year post diploma and will be working soon (as I was before I started my diploma). I did start working soon after I got back from India after visiting my parents.
At that time it was taking 22 months for files to be processed in Canada, but it took my file 31 months to get processed because they were trying to verify my income. This really amazes me and also disappoints me that with such a wonderful system in Canada, it took them that long to verify my income when they could have asked me to send my job letters which would have taken maximum two weeks. Besides my husband (also my co-sponser) had been working before I started my school and his income alone was more than enough to meet the requirement.
At this time I am so losing hope and getting really anxious as the file has been in India since Jan 2007 and nothing is happening. My parents have never been able to share anything with me in last nine years as they can't come here to visit me leaving my brothers behind. Now, I will soon be graduating as a CGA and am afraid that they might not be able to attend my grad ceremony because of their application taking so long. That will be the biggest disappointment in my life.....as it was their biggest dream to see me getting my designation. But all I can do is hope for the best!!
Sorry about writing such a long post, but it feels better when you share it with someone (other than my husband...poor thing has to listen to me all the time!!!!). Also, it may work as a heads up for others who are in the same situation.
Best wishes,
