CIC website states :
Eligibility to apply from inside Canada
You can only apply for a work permit from inside Canada if:

"you are in Canada because you have already applied for permanent residence from inside Canada. You will have to pass certain stages in the main application process before you can be eligible for a work permit. "

I have submitted my PR application under CanadianExperienceClass in Aug 2011 and I received my AOR as well.

I'm planning to apply for my Open work permit extension along with my husband's work permit extension .

Meantime, I would like to know if my PR application will help me to stay in canada , in case something worse happens in our extension process .

1.  No, having a PR application doesn't enhance a work permit application.
2.  Note the section you quoted is for persons applying inland for PR.  CEC is processed outside Canada.  The quoted section is for "in-Canada" spousal, LCP Refugees etc.
