hello guys !

I've completed DELF A1 exam scoring 80% marks. When I Proced my application for Quebec , they gave me 2 points on frence langugae but I couldn't success in quebec. Now I'm planning to process for fedral goverment. and i'm going to take DELF A2 exam in coming jan 2009. I know fedral goverment wants TEF exam score but it is costly so I decide to take DELF A2 . Does it gives any number in fedreal processing.

Hi PMM,
i have a question especially to you. I applied in october 2007 for a federal PR (simplified process). I mentioned my first language is french (but iam not from france). iam from cameroon, and there french and englisch are the both official national languages. Iam then a french "speaker". yet my question: should i take a TEF oder provide a explanation letter to explain the fact described above? Does the IO grants me the full points if i provide this letter? and coz my second language is englisch i don't want to take IELTS, 2 points for englisch should be enough for me.
so PMM (or anothers seniors hier) i hope every much you will answer me
Cheers

If you have Delf score then cic will take this as a supporting documents ,it depends upon IO ,how much points they will give for your delf. One of my friend claim 2 points for french by providing DELF A1 and A2.but IO will not give you more than 2 points if u have upto DELF A2 score(may be 0 or  1 or 2).But if you have TEF score nobody would cut your points whatever u claim according to score.

According to cic website:

Proof of your language abilities
If you have some proficiency in both English and French, decide which language you are more comfortable using. This is your first official language. The other is your second official language.

If you claim to have language abilities on your application, you must provide conclusive proof of your level of proficiency. There are two ways to do this. You can:

take a language test or
provide other written proof of your abilities.
We strongly recommend that you take a language test from an approved organization. You will find a link to a list of approved English language testing organizations under the Related Links section at the bottom of this page. You will also find a link to additional information on language testing.

bonne chance!!

Think this through if CIC/CHC insists on TEF, what makes you think that you would receive any points for DELF?  If French is you 2nd language and you only have a basic knowledge, the maximum you can get is 2 points.
