Does CIC send tracking/file number for PR card renewal

Hello All

I am a Permanent Resident of Canada. I have mailed my application to CIC for renewal of my PR card 2 months ago. But I have not received any confirmation from CIC that they received it. So, I do not have a File Number/Receipt number to track my PR card renewal status.

1. Is it normal for CIC in Sydney to not send any confirmation of receipt of application and provide a tracking number for ECAS?
2. How can we track the status of our PR card renewal application online?

They don't send acknowlegdment for applications.  You should have the signature through the courier when it was delivered as confirmation they have it.

Thanks much kelKel. From Canada Post tracking number, I can see my application was delivered to CIC.

But how do we track the status of PR card renewal application online using CIC website ECAS? (like we can do for the citizenship application).

Seems like you can.  Do yo have a receipt number that you can use?

So, I did not get a receipt number from CIC, 2 months after mailing the PR renewal application. What I am worried is if they misplaced my application.

Without a receipt number from them, I have practically no way of finding the status online, right?

 This is my first post. We mailed the Pr renewal back in April2011,I know it was received as they sent a form back needing signature. That was returned but with the Canada Post action,don't think the new cards will arrive by the time we fly early August.
Where do we go and what will we need to show them in order to get a Travel Document?
Anyone?
