Part of the risk of immigration is the issue of subjecting oneself to the norms and ethics of the host community - re-certification & re training in any given profession medicine been one of them.

It is fair to expect the government and people of Canada to require anyone coming to their country to subject themselves to extensive tests to prove that they are indeed professional with good credentials. Once done, the field of opportunity is then open to those candidates.

Before getting to the accredited stage however, the professional has two choices s(he) can either stay at home if there is sufficient money to last the period of re-certification or get a job to sustain his/her family. A realistic person without unlimited fund will get a job (whether it's below "status") that will sustain the family in the interim. That way, all kind of pressures can be avoided.

Once done, the professional whether Doctor, Engineer etc can continue with his or her dream.

Don't forget you that you chose to apply hence you have submit yourself to many checks. If you are truly qualified you won't have any problem.
