I need to know when canadian citizen on pension (not working) marrying some one overseas, does he (canadian citizen) have to have bank account to show to embassy, or have some cash value, or something to bring his spouse to canada? will embassy ask for something like this to him or his wife?

as long as you are not receiving welfare you can sponsor your wife
they will ask for a copy of your last year tax return
