Hi All,

My spouse is currently in Canada with me, so she is an in-land applicant for PR, while I am the sponsor.

When she first came to Canada (roughly 2 years ago), she came with a study permit and she did all the necessary police check and had a police certificate issued from China. She still has the hardcopy.

Because she is already in-land, when she was doing her last two study permit extension, she was not required any police certificate again (or not required to obtain another one in order to extend her visa).

Now we are married and I am applying her to become PR, according to the application instruction, when applying for PR, you are required to have a police certificate attached with the application.

Does that mean I must obtained another police certificate? Even though I applying her as in-land? Or that can be omitted since she is already here in Canada for 2 years.

Speaking of that, she has stayed in Canada for more than 24 months, does that mean she need a police certificate from Canada as well?

Also, the CIC stated, "The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.". So it means the hardcopy she still kept is no use completely, right?

Thank you in advance for your help and answers. Smiley

1. She does not need to include a police certificate for Canada.

2. Her old police certificates are no longer valid in the eyes of Canadian immigration. She will need to obtain new police certificates for every country (apart from Canada) she has lived in for six months or more since the age of 18.

3. No - she cannot omit the police certificates because she has applied inland and has been in Canada for two years. Current/valid police certificates are mandatory for all applications.

Thanks for the reply. So it means she needs two police check (police certificate)
(1) China -- her original country
(2) Canada --- since she reside here longer than 6 months

Correct?

CIC will do their own police checks for Canada.
