Difficult situation

Hello,

I will tell you my situation and I would be very grateful if anyone can help.

I just got married last weekend to my mexican girlfriend who is pregnant (1 month). She has been illegal for one month. We applied for an extention and got an answer back December 30 for only 3 weeks. So January 17 I think was her last day legal here. The baby is due then in 8 months right. I was wondering what our best option is?

Is it better she goes back to Mexico and we apply from there?
Is there anyway she can have the baby here without paying $12,000 (only a guess it costs that)?
Is it possible to apply from here and get accepted soon?

I talked to immigration and they said I need to reinstate her visa but maybe there is a good chance she is rejected??

If you apply inland and all your paperwork is in order, if you are lucky, you could have first stage approval in 6 months.  I think most provinces would give her health care at that point too although they might want her to do the 3 month waiting period before qualifying.  However, problem with inland is that if something is not in order (such as being illegal, doubts about relationship etc.), they can take practically forever.

If you apply outland through Mexico, you are looking at average 8 months to get PR.  I have also heard that childbirth can cost 10,000 to 12,000 in a hospital but midwifes may be cheaper.

It's possible that provincial health insurance might cover the birth, depending on what stage of the immigration process you're in. This is not the same in every province, so you should check with your particular provincial health ministry. I know that Quebec has exceptions for pregnancies. In certain circumstances pregnant women do not have the 3-month waiting period that other users do.

Hello, yes giving birth in a Hospital would cost around 8 to 10.000 but a mid wife charges about 3500 - 4500 there also very quilified.
more and more people prefer that option, since its a lot more personal...

No, I haven't sent anything thing in yet. I am waiting to try and make the best decision. What do you guys think the changes are of her getting a reinstated visitor visa? I think they gave her only three weeks because we didn't apply for six months. I'm guessing it's better she goes back.I wonder how much medication and that will cost. The midwife thing sounds pretty good, however I heard there is a big line up for one.

I hate to say it, but now that she has overstayed, they might be very reluctant to give her a time like 6 months now. I know I saw someone else here who was in a similar situation with her husband who had overstayed and they only gave him 3 weeks.

Usually they would say something about why they gave her such a short time. I'm not sure that such a short time is usual for Mexicans.

I think you should call your province's health ministry so you will at least know if provincial health insurance might cover it.

I just heard a case that is similar than yours..... A canadian married mexican and they have a baby here in Canada but she was illegal, she got deported and now mother and baby are in Mexico. She is trying to get a letter or something to be able to come back to canada...
