It's on one of the sponsor's forms - IMM 1344A - and the instructions for how to designated A, B, or C are found in the Sponsor's Guide,
page 6 of 33.

Dependent children
Your child or a child of the person you are sponsoring will be considered a dependent child if that child
A. is under the age of 22 and not married or in a common-law relationship; or
B. married or entered into a common-law relationship before the age 22 and, since becoming a spouse or a common-law partner, has
• been continuously enrolled and in attendance as a full-time student in a post secondary
institution accredited by the relevant government authority and
• depended substantially on the financial support of a parent; or
is 22 years of age or older and, since before the age of 22, has
• been continuously enrolled and in attendance as a full-time student in a post secondary
institution accredited by the relevant government authority and
• depended substantially on the financial support of a parent; or
C. is 22 years of age or older, has depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since
before the age of 22 and is unable to provide for him/herself due to a medical condition.

ok unrelated to the subject slightly, but im taking my 2 children with me, they are 5 and 2, on the form about fees it says:

RIGHT OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE FEE*                                        x$490 per person
Principal applicant or accompanying family member who is
not
a) a dependent child of the sponsor or principal applicant,
b) a child to be adopted by the sponsor, or
c) an orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild
of the sponsor.

Does this mean i only pay the permanent residence fee for myself and my children are exempt? I know it may look silly, but i just want to check and make sure, i dont want to be hit with fees later on. Thanks in advance :)

The fees are as follows: $75 Sponsorship fee, $475 Principle Applicant fee, $150 fee for each accompanying dependent - these fees must be paid upfront and proof sent with the application.  Then there is a $490 Right of Permanent Residence fee that is paid, basically, per application.  Payment of the RPRF can be deferred until CIC requests it when they're ready to issue the visa.  So, your fees would be $850 upfront, and then the additional $490, for a total of $1340.
