Dear friends,

I have arrived to Toronto, ON with my family in the month of July, 2011 and we all have PR cards, except my 3 y.o child who is with us here in Canada (she is a USA citizen) but I need to apply for her PR card through Family sponsorship as soon as possible.

For the past 2-3 weeks I have been searching relevant information but get more and more confused.

I do request your assistance in providing whatever information you have to sponsor a DEPENDENT CHILD from inside the CANADA.

I found "Applying for Permanent Residence from Within Canada. Spouse or Common-Law Partner In Canada Class" IMM 5289 but not sure if the same applies to Dependent Child.

Please help I am really lost and not even sure who to call and get some assistance.

Thanks in advance.

Someone else can help better than I can, but I'm wondering why your child wasn't on the original application when you got yours?

Was your child born before or after you landed in Canada and became permanent residents?

Now we are in Canada and my child is with me.  I need to sponsor her to get a PR card and would really appreciate if you could advise me on the forms I need to complete for the inland sponsorship of a dependent child.

Thanking you all in advance.

So your child is a Canadian citizen by birth, isn't it?

I think the OP was pregnant when she landed - then returned to the US and had her baby there.

Didn't see that in the OP.

The immigration process is simple for dependents. There are bunch of forms on cic that needs to be filled. You require medical exam for them. There is no employment obligation to sponsor a dependent. There is no police certificate required if dependent is under 18 years. The sponsor needs to be in Canada. The application fee is $150 and is submitted to Mississauga center. You may submit the sponsor application, principal applicant application and the medical all together. The center takes around 45 days to approve you. Once approved it is sent to consulate of the applicant. Depending upon their processing time, you will hear from them to submit the passport. Only thing I am not sure about your case is where they would send the applicant's application as the dependent is with you.
