Dentist immigrating later than dependent child

Hello,

My father is a dentist, and as such has a chance at obtaining permanent residence in Canada, yet, he does not want to move to Canada straight away, a thing which I, his son would like to do as soon as possible. Would it be legal+possible for him to obtain permanent residence, sponsor me for it with only me moving to Canada and he joining me later on?

To keep the PR status, he has to stay in Canada for 2 years out of every 5, so he could land, get his PR card, then go home for 3 years.

Another question, if eventually he would decide to stay in my country for more than three years but I decide to instead remain in Canada, would I loose my PR status too?

He must apply for PR for himself and all of his family members that are qualifying dependents (spouse & children).  It's all or nothing in the economic streams.  And the OP doesn't mention how old he is so we don't know if we would be considered a dependent.

Once they all land and get their PR cards, though, the parents could go back home and leave the son there, couldn't they?

I think they could, my question is though, if my father changes his mind and decides to stay in my country while i decide to stay in Canada, will i loose my PR as well?

Yes, they could if they applied under the FSW program.  The principal applicant must land first or everyone must land together.  Then it is each person's individual responsibility to meet their residency obligations.  So if the parents left and the son stayed, as long as he is meeting the residency obligations himself he will be fine.  If his parents later lose their PR due to non-compliance with the residency requirements, it will have no impact on his PR.

This is not the same for people issued PR visa's under the entreprenuer category where there are conditions attached.  But as a skilled worker, it is fine.
