Hi Nic_CEC_Dec

How long did it take for you to get your PPR once it shows medical received.

I would say (roughly) that it was 2 weeks after they actually received my medicals (according to the tracking number) that it was changed to ‘medicals received'. And then 2 weeks after that I got my PPR and it still just says ‘medicals received'.

I feel that update to "decision made" is an indicator of "passport will return in 2 weeks" (based on observation of other people's experience).

Hey everyone,

So I landed on Thursday evening at the Windsor Detroit Borde. Basically drove down from Ottawa, reached Windsor at 8am. My girlfriend crossed the border and went to the consulate to hand in my passport, my document with my height and eye color, 2 photos and the letter authorizing my girlfriend to submit it.

Submitting it to the embassy was straight forward, however she had trouble getting past the buildings security to access the consulate. They werent letting her go to the embassy, saying that there is no more walk-ins, and that they need to have an email print out proving the embassy confirmed they can submit the document in person. Luckily I had already emailed Detroit to confirm with them, so she printed off that email. However once she went up the the consulate, they said the security should not have given her any problems, but just and FYI for anyone who's planning on going.

She was told to come pick it up at 2pm same day. When she went, she received my COPR and passport with the immigrant visa, came back, we crossed into US and turned around, took about 35 mins on the US side while they filled out paperwork, and then landed in Canada which took about 15-20 mins.

And that was that. oood luck to all of you!! Such an incredibly massive weight off my shoulders!

You have to goto the US border post, which is technically on US soil, and they refuse entry from there, and send you back to Canadian side for the completion of your landing

Hi aba_bab,

Thank you very much for writing up your detailed experience.

Can you please tell me the e-mail id of the Detroit office so that I too will confirm with them if I can walk-in.

Hey Torap,

cicdetroit @ international.gc.ca - this is the email i sent it to,

re-detroit-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca  - and this is the email I got a response from.

If I were you, I'd just email both of those emails. It took just a day to get a response from Detroit. My response was as follows:

Sir/Madam,

You must deliver your passport(s) in person, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Your passports may be ready for pick up on the same day.
The person you send on your behalf must provide photo identification, ie. passport, and a letter from the applicants authorizing them.

Regards,
