Did anyone catch the debate tonight? I missed it.

Did they talk about immigration at all?

I have no idea who I want to vote for.

I caught it on TV right when they were discussing immigration, but slightly missed it.  From what I've seen not just in the debate but overall, Jack Layton may be my choice.
I caught it at the part where Mr.Layton was telling Mr.Harper that the family reunification process is important and waiting times should be cut down, that it is not right for family members to wait that long to come to Canada, also Mr.Ignatieff was stating how immigration and multiculturalism is important to Canada and Mr.Harper only wants immigrants to come as temporary workers etc. for the Economic side of it..  I didn't hear anyone else's side on this from the parties.

Anyone else catch it?

i didn't see it either Sad but someone told me that Jack did talk abt immigration and family reunification but he focused on long processes for parents; but what abt the spouses or dependent children who have also to wait 2 years in some places? Sad for some that's more important than the parents...apparently noone mentioned that

if anyone knows some link or youtube where we can see the replay pls share!!! also, is there any online streaming with the future debate maybe we can see it on the internet Wink

thank u!!

I suggest checking cbc or the ctv websites. Usually they will have video of important things like that. From wht I know the french debate is tonight... you may probably see it with english subs or translator on one of the channels.

Watch for the comment to Harper, from Duceppe  - congratulating him on the first time he actually answered a question from a member of the public Smiley

The text of the letter that they talk about is here:

I liked some of Duceppes comments. He would be my choice if it was just about immigration.
Layton and Ignatieff have very nice ideas, just no mention of how they are going to pay for them.

I just started watching so I am not sure who I would vote for (if I was allowed to vote).
However, Harper does have the ability to not raise his voice and keep calm when they are fussing at him which is great. I don't like though that he won't even look at the camera or the person he is debating when he is talking, rather just the man in front. But I am not entirely for Harper. Yes he has some good plans but I also think like many politicians he has the ability to fib when needed. And it is also, known fairly well around here that Harper wants nothing to do with Newfoundland. He only wanted to deal with them when it came time to take control over the climate. Not to mention did you notice that he wouldn't talk about it as a province but "Atlantic Canada". If he would show more support of Newfoundland as a province and being part of Canada then maybe I would be more for him but how can I be supportive of someone who doesn't appreciate the home my husband comes from and I hope to be making our home for our family?

the vancouver sun summed it up well....

The opposition fell straight into the oldest spike pit in politics; by savagely attacking Harper, they created some sympathy for him and made his reaction the crucial focus of the debate. As usual, cool-hand Harper didn't react at all, either by word or look. He just responded time and again by saying the attacks weren't true and focusing on his main theme, sound economic management.

@ Love_Young I understand your feelings, I also would find that frustrating.

Oh, and Ignatieff seems to be all talk. He was stumbling all over for words, was he not?
To tell you the truth the thing I usually hate about politics is that I hardly seem someone worth voting for.
Its more of a "who would I rather my vote go to" type of thing. I think when it comes to Prime Minister voting, there should be at least someone everyone is running to the polls to vote for. Does this make sense?

I agree, its usually a case of picking the best of a bad bunch, the lesser of the evils.

Love_Young, you are from the US right?
How would you feel about Donald Trump running for President?
