Dear Raghu,

A similar query I had responded to few days back, plz read here...
Hi,

Firstly, thanks for the accolades.

Secondly, plz remember that every part of Canada is welcoming to new immigrants. Nearly everyone that u'd meet here is an immigrant, irrespective of his color, creed, religion & faith. All have come here from another country, as a newcomer, someday. The original natives r far flung. So, Mississauga is no exception. For your solace - yes it's pretty good a place to reside.

Thirdly, about the rentals: For your initial abode (post landing), u could obtain one of the "Short-Stay Accoms", which have been referred in many threads... SafeHomeStay, Studio6, Motel6 etc. However, for your continued yearly rental there r many options as well, to search them. As u locate some suitable ones, be assured that not all landlords would be concerned with a Credit Check. Most would sign the lease with 2 months advance (the first & the last), while at most keeping one additional chq as a Security Deposit. Besides, u can always provide them your Overseas Credit Card copy as a guarantee.

Note once again: Most ppl here r very accommodating. Everyone has gone thru the same beginning & so they all understand your pain/s.

Welcome aboard!

Now to build on it, specific to your query...

First & foremost, plz note that there r two Seniors here (Leon & PMM) who r much more knowledgeable than me. Their opinion matters a lot more...

In my point of view, Canada is diverse. An epitome of multiculturalism. It's not actually a Melting-Pot, but a "cooking-pot" for amalgamating ppl - of all faiths, cultures, creed, religion, beliefs, color, sect, race, se*x, u name it. And the nation is doing a damn good job of it! The gourmet is splendid!

Anything & everything - Anyone & everyone is accepted here with open arms. Ppl r tolerant to the core... U'd not feel 'out of place' anywhere here... All over Canada. Any neighborhood. Everywhere u'll find ppl of every type living in harmony - total bliss. No one talks about someone as an Indian, Colored, Non-White etc. In all neighborhoods u'd find any & many nationalities as your neighbor. And we r lovin! it (McDonald's tagline, I guess!). Period!

So, with that analogy, isn't it better that we forego our background & accept Canada in all earnestness? I'm not talking about overlooking our roots, but just to take it as it is - be a Global Citizen, rather than place ourselves in a shell - be myopic. And in that bargain, forget why we came in here, in the 1st place?

In my view (again), once I've taken the plunge, brought-in my family here, we might as well become Canadians, rather what I was (or my folks were) before. That's what I thought before moving here, wasn't I? Or I should have remained in my homeland, within my comfort zone.

Bottomline: It really makes no difference where we live, which neighborhood we choose, whether our homeland's ppl r nearby & should we reside among our own ppl or live by a cultural-mix. And believe me, ppl of the world think alike with regards to what u asked originally in your post [kids edn, parental guidance, respect to seniors (not only of parents), our culture/traditions etc.]. No father or mother would like to see their kids go haywire, be they from any nationality, would they?

"Your living is determined not so much by what Life brings to You, as by what You bring to your Life!"

BTW, go to that neighborhood where your job takes u, or u get the best deal, or which u like after landing. Given one year here - u'll have your own opinions. Then u can easily shift, with your 1st buy. Taken that the 1st yr (usually) u'll be renting & within a yr (again usually) ppl get to purchase their abode.

Qorax

Ps.: Regrets for the long post. But chose to write in length, 'coz this is something from my heart.

Great reply and you are right in that we would assimilate quicker into Canadian society when we are out of our traditional niche and comfort zone.

People in West also respect adults...it a free culture but not over driven with emotions like u r watching bhagban...

west is not over charged so they easily do not get up and attack other people...NOT EMOTIONALLY HYPER

If scared why come to western countries...I know u didn't ask me  but this is a social message...
